States
Not a style. Not a genre. More a condition an image can arrive in.
States brings together paintings, drawings, photographs, objects and details that often develop without a fixed endpoint. Some are raw or childlike, others erotic, aggressive, tender, absurd or almost silent. Some may look unfinished and still be complete.
I do not want to force the same explanation onto all of them afterwards. A work can remain contradictory. A detail can tell a different story from the whole. A face can look frightened and tender at the same time.
The important thing is simple: something has to happen.
